A Letter to our Members!
May 17, 2010

Dear FAB! members and friends,

What a FAB-ulous year we have had! We are celebrating our seventh grant year by surpassing $1.2 million dollars in grants awarded to Broward County arts organizations. What started just seven years ago as an idea and a dream has become a powerful force in the arts community. It took all of us working together to get here and it will require our continued commitment to perpetuate it.

This year FAB! received $20,000 from corporate member BankAtlantic to establish the BankAtlantic Children’s Cultural Arts Grant. This allowed us to offer a new category of programming to grantees. Accordingly, we have five different programs being funded by this gift.

In 2010, a total of $252,000 is being awarded in grants to fund twenty-nine different programs in our community. This is amazing – and we did it together! The organizations receiving grants today represent all aspects of the arts and touch all parts of our community. It’s up to us to make sure their work is allowed to continue. Your support is needed more than ever.

Funding Arts Broward, FAB! came into existence when the cutbacks in government funding for the arts began. During the past years it has worsened and we continue to watch the decline in arts funding on local, state and national levels. In the coming year we will be looking at how we can use the power of FAB! to make our voices heard on arts issues while still doing the work for which were established – funding grants.

But today is a time for congratulations and celebration! As a member of FAB! you have made a significant difference – just by being a part of this. For this, we thank you!

With appreciation,
Drazia Rubenstein, President, and
Francie Bishop Good, Chair
